The first step involves building detailed business cases addressing unique insurance needs across customer lifecycles, from first-job income protection to family wealth planning. Following that, mapping tailored personas and customer journeys that reflect real-world financial challenges and aspirations, enabling more meaningful and relevant engagement with the insurance products.
After finalizing user experience design and business requirements, the optimal technology stack for Metaverse development was selected and planned. Unity was chosen as the primary game engine for web application development, leveraging its adaptive capabilities for cross-platform compatibility without mobile dependencies through WebGL. This allows for seamless web accessibility suitable for Financial Advisors or Business Development Partners to access the tool on-the-go.
AWS was chosen as the hosting cloud infrastructure for scalable computing requirements and reliable performance, while integrating Spatial for immersive environment creation and ReadyPlayerMe for avatar customization.
The development of Metaverse began with detailed environment modeling in Blender, where I constructed professional spaces optimized for insurance advisory and product discovery. I created custom 3D assets including interactive displays, meeting areas, and product showcase zones, implementing materials and lighting that aligned with brand guidelines. The financial advisor avatars were meticulously designed with professional characteristics and rigged for realistic animations, while ReadyPlayerMe integration enabled customizable user representations within our virtual environment.
Working in Unity, I implemented C# scripts for interactive elements and avatar control systems, incorporating WebGL for browser-based rendering and AWS services for cloud deployment. The development included complex animation controllers for advisor movements, IK (Inverse Kinematics) systems for natural gestures, and UI frameworks for intuitive navigation. I integrated Spatial's environment features with custom shaders and post-processing effects, creating a performance-optimized platform that maintained professional aesthetics while enabling seamless user interactions through a gamified journey.
Finally, the Metaverse proof-of-concept was deployed on AWS cloud platform, utilizing EC2 for hosting, CloudFront for efficient delivery of 3D assets, and S3 buckets for content storage. The POC implementation focused on core functionality, leveraging basic AWS services to demonstrate platform viability while maintaining cost efficiency through optimized resource utilization.
